In many golfer’s estimations no one did more to popularize the sport of golf than Arnie.

One report described ‘his dashing presence’ and that he ‘singlehandedly took golf out of the country clubs and into the mainstream’.

Bryon Hutchinson, former Tournament Pro in the Fifties, and attached for about 40 years to the classic Moortown Golf Club in Leeds, until his retirement, has very fond memories of playing against Arnie in the mid 1950’s.
