B24: BriskerGolf Scorecard & Positional Points (pp): Ganton, Card 1 of 4

GANTON GC: Note that up-to-date scoring for Player E above is 17th/4 and NOT 17th/5. Thus Player E is placed 3rd Overall, and NOT joint 1st!

B24 above is an example of a slightly out-of-date completed BriskerGolf scorecard. 9 Mar’24

On completion of a BriskerGolf round the COINS! golf (BriskerGolf) Tokens that competitors have accrued are translated and simplified into positional points (pp), as follows:

  • 1 pp First Position (Winner, or Joint Winner!)
  • 2 pp Second Position (or Joint Second Position)
  • 3 pp Third Position (or Joint Third Position)
  • 4 pp Fourth Position (or Joint Fourth Position)
  • 5 pp Fifth Position

Thus the pp gained by a BriskerGolfer at the conclusion of a round refers to his/her relative position within his group, on completion of the round, and not the actual coins scored in the round.

In the event of tied positionsthe tied players receive equal positional points (pp), and the adjacent lower position, (or possibly lower positions), cease to exist, for example:

  • 1 pp First Position (Winner!)
  • 2 pp Second Position (Jointly)
  • 2 pp Second Position (Jointly)
  • 4 pp Fourth Position
  • 5 pp Fifth Position

and:

  • 1 pp First Position (Jointly!)
  • 1 pp First Position (Jointly!)
  • 3 pp Third Position (Jointly)
  • 3 pp Third Position (Jointly)
  • 3 pp Third Position (Jointly)

In BriskerGolf Scorecard 1 of 4 above, the winner is Player E, who has attained the lowest positional score of 1 pp.

Each player’s pp score is carried through to the next round of the BriskerGolf  competition, and all BriskerGolfers are re-grouped, using both seeding and randomisation, to ensure that no two BriskerGolfers play a second round together.

BriskerGolf Scorecard 2 of 4,  in the next Blog entry shows how Day 1 and Day 2 pp scores are accumulated.

26 Feb’24  xx, xx; xxxxxx;

Alternate Version of pp scoring: 3rd Mar’24

In this version there are NO TIES for pp (positional points)!

In the event of any Ties at a Hole, the outright winner is the LAST PLAYER (Ultimate Player) to Tie the Hole, and any other player or players to Tie the same Hole achieve only a GHOST Tie!

The order of scoring at a TIED Hole is:

(i) For TWO players TIEING a Hole,

ULTIMATE Player to Tie a Hole => WINNER of the Hole!

PENULTIMATE Player to Tie a Hole => GHOST TIE LOSER of the Hole!

——————————————————-

(ii) For THREE players TIEING a Hole,

ULTIMATE Player to Tie a Hole => WINNER of the Hole!

PENULTIMATE Player to Tie a Hole => GHOST TIE LOSER of the Hole!

ANTIPENULTIMATE Player to Tie a Hole => GHOST TIE LOSER of the Hole!

——————————————————-

(iii) For FOUR players TIEING a Hole,

ULTIMATE Player to Tie a Hole => WINNER of the Hole!

PENULTIMATE Player to Tie a Hole => GHOST TIE LOSER of the Hole!

ANTIPENULTIMATE Player to Tie a Hole => GHOST TIE LOSER of the Hole!

PREANTIPENULTIMATE Player to Tie a Hole => GHOST TIE LOSER of the Hole!

——————————————————-

(iv) For FIVE players TIEING a Hole,

ULTIMATE Player to Tie a Hole => WINNER of the Hole!

PENULTIMATE Player to Tie a Hole => GHOST TIE LOSER of the Hole!

ANTIPENULTIMATE Player to Tie a Hole => GHOST TIE LOSER of the Hole!

PREANTIPENULTIMATE Player to Tie a Hole => GHOST TIE LOSER of the Hole!

PROPREANTIPENULTIMATE Player to Tie a Hole => GHOST TIE LOSER of the Hole!

——————————————————-

The OUTRIGHT (OVERALL) Winner of a Hole, includes every ULTIMATE Tied Player to be declared the Winner of a TIED Hole!

 To determine the final pp score in the event of a Tie in pp scores at the end of a BriskerGolf (COINS! golf) round (normally 18 Holes), the pp scores in the event of Tied pp scores, are calculated by Countback to the last winner of a Hole, to determine the following pp results:

a) Overall Winner (=> Outright Winner; or Outright Winner by Countback to the last winner of a Hole)

                                         => 1 pp

b) Overall 2nd Place (=> Outright 2nd Place; or Outright 2nd Place by Countback to the last winner [excluding a) Overall Winner of a Hole])

                                             => 2 pp

c) Overall 3rd Place (=> Outright 3rd Place; or Outright 3rd Place by Countback to the last winner of a Hole [excluding both a) Overall Winner & b) Overall 2nd Place, of a Hole]))

                                             => 3 pp

d) Overall 4th Place (=> Outright 3rd Place; or Outright 3rd Place by Countback to the last winner of a Hole [excluding both a) Overall Winner & b) Overall 2nd Place, & c) Overall 3rd Place of a Hole]))

                                             => 4 pp

e) Overall 5th Place (=> Placed by Countback as the worst winning record at a Hole)

                                             => 5 pp

——————————————————-

If there is a TIE in the leading number of COINS!5 golf (=> BriskerGolf) Tokens acquired at the end of a round, there is a formal way of differentiating between the joint victors of such a COINS!5 golf (=> BriskerGolf) Tokens, and ALL FIVE POSITIONS, at the conclusion of the Last Hole.

The infallible method of deciding ALL FIVE POSITIONS at the end of a COINS!5 game is termed:

  • COUNTBACK to the last winner of a Hole

And, if required, any other finishing position can be similarly calculated by COUNTBACK to the last winner of a Hole.

——————————————————-

With reference to the Ganton scorecard above, there are two pp Ties for FIRST PLACE:

Player B => 6th/4 tokens(Coins); 10th/ 1 token (Coin) => 5 tokens (Coins)

Player C => 2nd /2 tokens(Coins); 9th/2 tokens(Coins); 13th/1 token(Coin)  => 5 tokens (Coins)

(Note: Player E  => 17th/4 tokens(Coins) is NOT a Tie for FIRST PLACE. It’s an Outright THIRD PLACE position!)

——————————————————-

By Countback to the Last Hole won Outright, the 13th Hole, by Player C, the order of pp (positional points), is:

Player C  => 1 pp

Player B => 2 pp  (by Countback to 13th Hole win by Player C)

and

Player E => 3 pp

and

Player D => 4 pp

and

Player A => 5 pp

    I have been surfing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the net will be much more useful than ever before.

      Hi & thanks for your positive comment.

      I’m just making a major revision of BriskerGolf, hopefully it will be online in a couple of weeks.

      I am a subversive character and have always sought to push the boundaries of entertainment, particularly in golf.

      My vision is to make golf a much more inclusive game that’s wildly funny, and has a natural appeal to those who like to mix business with pleasure.

      Best wishes,

      David
